Renting Chalets

TCCOA does not rent chalets and has no particular responsibilities with regard to those who rent out, or rent them, since they are owned by freeholders and not the company.

If you rent out your chalet...

If you rent out your chalet, for example as a holiday let, you should be aware that you need to comply with the relevant legislation, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Health and Safety, including electrical safety and Fire Regulations.
  • Refuse disposal - any refuse generated by self-catering holiday accommodation is classed as commercial waste and must not be included in domestic waste collections. See Cornwall Council's website for further information.
  • Insurance implications, including Public Liability.
  • If rental use is permitted by any mortgage restrictions.
  • Income Tax implications, as tax may be due on any income not fully offset against expenditure.
  • These are complex topics and if you are unsure of any point you should seek specialist advice.

We would also ask that you make your guests aware of the recycling rules at Tregonhawke as they are likely to differ from those that they are used to at home.

If you are renting a chalet...

If you are renting a chalet, for example as a holiday let, you should be aware that TCCOA has no responsibility for holiday lets since they are owned by freeholders and not the company. This site gives more information about TCCOA's responsibilities and activities.

If you have a complaint or problem with your rented chalet you should contact the chalet owner or their agent in the first instance. If the matter is particularly serious or you feel uncomfortable about contacting the chalet owner or their agent then you may feel it is more appropriate to contact the relevant local authority or professional body with your concerns.
